My Acne Attacked Me Again!

Talking about acne, I got attacked by another rush of acne during the past weeks. I believe they are caused by my muddled up sleeping pattern. My work and life also affected my healthy diet because I work seven hours a day, six days a week in the past two weeks. Below are the pictures that I took before and after the acne mask treatment. That is what I do when I get those acne attacks along with my daily skincare routine.

Left and right jawline before mask treatment
Overnight after mask treatment and my skincare routine
My DIY mask!
clay mask + aloe Vera + hydrating mask at the ratio of 2:1:1
leave it on for 20mins
the ratio can be adjusted according to your skin type

I chose those three products to make my DIY acne treatment mask is because it achieves the benefits that I want to have clear, smooth skin. The clay mask is the main ingredient to this DIY mask. A clay mask will extract the impurities, oils and dirt inside our pores. When the irritation occurs, the whiteheads inside our pores get inflamed. Then aloe vera gel is added to the mask to help soothe the inflamed pimples to reduce the pain and itchiness. Lastly, with the hydrating mask, the purpose is to keep the other area of skin hydrated. I found that my skin feels more comfortable, refreshed after I wash the mask off after 20minutes. I do this DIY mask treatment once every two weeks or twice a week depends on my skin situation.

I know that the acne that I get from time to time causes by hormonal fluctuation. That is why my acne only appears on both sides of the jawline when our hormones are unbalanced. Our body will produce more sebum which causes pores to get clogged easily. We need to exfoliate our skin according to its need with an exfoliating scrub or a device to give our pores a deep cleanse and swept away the dead skin cells. For example, 12%-14% glycolic acid scrub twice to three times a week with other skincare that contains salicylic acid or tea tree oil to fight the bacteria that causes acne.

This is my method of treating my hormonal acne when it attacks me from time to time along with my daily skincare routine, which includes:
Day Time Regime
1: Acne Treatment Cleanser + Lumispa
2: Exfoliating Toner- Contains Salicylic Acid
3: Salicylic Acid + Zinc serum
4: Tri-Phasic White Day Moisturizer + SPF 15
Night Time Regime
1: Acne Treatment Cleanser + Lumispa
2: Exfoliating Toner- Contains Salicylic Acid
3: 1% Retinol Face Oil
4: Dew All Day Facial Moisturiser

Success! You're on the list.

  1. […] I use this creamy hydrating mask in a combo with other products, my DIY breakouts rescue remedy. I find it nourishing and refreshing, and when I get breakouts, I use products that contain salicylic acid to assist with reducing acne and prevent further breakouts. Salicylic acid can cause skin dryness, so I would use this creamy mask regularly to reduce the over dryness and nourish the skin. My Acne Attacked Me Again! […]
